Animal Jam: New Year's Fortune

Today is the day my chicken nearly turned into a roasted dinner.

Roosters are officially the BEST pet in Animal Jam. Skippytoast here is my new main pet! Fun bits aside, we're here to play and review New Year's Fortune, Animal Jam's newest seasonal adventure.

Kirameki and I are of Chinese ancestry. Here in Malaysia, we seldom (if not never) say the phrase 'red envelopes', we say 'ang pows', as mentioned by Kirameki. Everyone here knows what ang pows mean, even if they don't speak Chinese. However, we are advised to write red packets in English essays. Ang pows are not necessarily given during Chinese New Year. If you absolutely have no way to give/pay money to someone, just reuse an old red packet.
I guess AJHQ nailed the Chinese dragon. Anyway, Kirameki and I were met with roosters when we entered the game.
The chicken coop is one of the locations for the red envelope. Here's a tip, the dragon at the corner indicates how far you are from the red envelope. The dragon will have less winter wind around it, turn green, then turn into a red dragon with swirling flames. That's when you are near the envelope.
The prizes I got were somehow less exciting than the other adventures. The site was pretty empty, unlike the Friendship Festival or Jamaalidays adventures.
At least they got the folklore right. But from what I heard, some say Nian doesn't scare people or animals, it EATS them. So, the villagers made 'firecrackers' out of bamboo, since it makes loud popping noises, to scare away the monster. Today, Nian is largely portrayed by the lion dance.

In the end, the adventure kinda got us bored a lot quicker than expected. We finally decided that we preferred the easter egg hunt.

Thanks for reading!
